Faith in God

Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior | Maine Niche

Faith in God is believing in something without requiring proof (i.e. – faith is the way of holding onto what we hope for, being certain of what we cannot see — Hebrews 11:1). One can have faith in:

  • Faith in God
  • In people (such as skills or abilities)
  • In things (personal causes or nature)

I trust the abilities and skills of others vs. as opposed to personal relationships. It keeps expectations in perspective knowing no one is perfect; we all make mistakes. Faith in God is based on knowing God loves me unconditionally and accepts me as I am, no matter what. The journey with Him is personal and private, as it should be.

Belief in God is intertwined with my religious beliefs and yet remains independent of religion. There is no one religion that I agree with all teachings. And rather jump around seeking the perfect religion, I returned to my faith of origin which embraces my core beliefs: Believe in the Blessed Trinity (Father, Son & Holy Spirit), the Blessed Sacraments, the Blessed Virgin Mary, saints and miracles.

Reliance and faith in God involves more than a mental conviction; it also includes action (i.e. – praying, attending mass, reading and discussing the Bible, asking God to help me change, seeking to be a power of example). I learned that by acting as if, eventually everything else will fall into place. This has worked  and helped define my faith.

For my faith in God to thrive, it needs to be developed through change; it is an ongoing process that helps me to avoid complacency. The best thing about faith… it is free and available to all humanity through free will!

Your Personal Journey

Perhaps your views on faith in God differs from what has been discussed. That’s the wonderful thing about free will. Each of us can choose to live our lives as we wish. I hope that when my time comes to pass on, I’ll have lived a life that is full of hope and that I have affected at least one person’s life along the way.
